Wilfried Meinert

Wilfried Meinert (born February 25, 1922 ) is a former German soccer player .

Career

The defensive player Wilfried Meinert began his career with a club from Essen not known by name and in the summer of 1949 moved to VfB Lübeck in what was then the first-class Oberliga Nord . He completed 28 league games for Lübeck, but could not prevent his team from relegating at the end of the season. Meinert then moved to VfB 03 Bielefeld in the II. Division West . With the Bielefeld team he was relegated in 1952 and one year later became Westphalian Champion. At the German amateur championship in 1953 , VfB 03 failed in the semifinals at Homberger SV . Two years later, Meinert and Bielefeld became vice-Westphalia champion behind Eintracht Gelsenkirchen and, after a play-off win against Homberger SV, managed to get promoted back to the second division. However, the direct relegation followed. For VfB 03 Bielefeld, Wilfried Meinert completed 54 games in the II. Division West and scored three goals.
