Wilhelm Albert by Jenny

Wilhelm Albert Ritter von Jenny (born September 27, 1896 in Linz ; † January 12, 1960 there ) was an Austrian art historian , prehistorian and museum director.

Life

Jenny studied art history at the University of Vienna and after completing her doctorate worked as a research assistant at the prehistoric university institute in Vienna. From 1929 to 1935 he was curator at the Prehistory Department of the State Museum of Ethnology in Berlin, and from 1935 to 1945 curator at the Museum of Prehistory and Early History in Berlin. In 1945 he became a scientific clerk at the Upper Austrian provincial government. In 1949 he became head of department and in 1953 curator at Upper Austria. State Museum.

From 1958 to 1960 he was director of the Upper Austrian State Museum .

In the course of research at the Martinskirche in Linz , Jenny was able to determine the Roman remains of a previous building in 1947. He has written numerous scientific articles, including for the Dehio-Handbuch, volume Upper Austria.
