Wilhelm Dütz

Wilhelm Dütz (born June 29, 1933 in Burgsteinfurt ) is a German lawyer and former professor at the University of Augsburg .

Life

After graduating from high school in Burgsteinfurt in 1953 , Dütz studied law and political science in Münster and the University of Hamburg . He completed his studies in 1957 with the first state examination in law, followed by the second in 1961. In 1965 he received his doctorate under Hans Brox , and in 1969 he completed his habilitation, also under Brox.

Dütz had been working as a judge at the Münster Regional Court since 1961 . This activity did not officially end until 1971, although he also worked as a research assistant at Hans Brox's chair and was doing his doctorate. From 1961 to 1963 Dütz was also on leave from his position as a judge, as he worked as a lawyer at the Federal Court of Justice . With the completion of his habilitation, he ended both his work as a judge and at the Brox chair. Since 1970 he has been a professor at the Free University of Berlin , in 1973 he moved to the University of Augsburg , where he taught and researched until his retirement in 2001.

Dütz's main research areas were civil law, civil procedural law, labor law and commercial law.
