Wilhelm Deny
Johann Friedrich Wilhelm Deny (* 1787 ; † 1822 in Jena ) was a German theater actor and opera singer ( bass ).
Life
As a young, talented man, Deny came to Weimar from Berlin, where he worked as an actor, on July 1, 1805. Right from the start he enjoyed great agility on stage and made his debut on July 3rd in Lauchstädt as “Felix” in “Der Corse”. It could be used in opera, in pleasure and drama, in farce and tragedy and was widely acclaimed. In Weimar he appeared as "Alba" in " Don Carlos ". He had his main successes initially as a hero and adolescent lover, but later tried his hand at intrigues with success. His pretty voice prompted him to make a guest appearance in Berlin as a singer and to appear as “Sarastro” in Mozart's Magic Flute . He was displeased. From this fiasco of it had happened to him while he could find no rest, delusions bothered him day and night, and already mentally deranged, he entered on January 12, 1822 commander of the Saxons, "Klodion" in praise opera Wittekind again the stage. It was his last role. That evening there were signs of approaching madness. On January 13th he was taken to the "madhouse", where he died that same year.
