Wilhelm Diedrich Albert

Wilhelm Albert (baptized name: Diedrich Wilhelm) (* May 7, 1799 in Witten ; † March 16, 1878 in Gevelsberg ) was a German Protestant clergyman. Among other things, he was Superintendent of the Hagen Church District and President of the Westphalian Provincial Synod of the Evangelical Church of Prussia .

Life

Wilhelm Albert was born the son of the businessman Johann Wilhelm Albert and his wife Else Catharina Auffermann. After graduation in 1819 he studied in Berlin and Bonn theology and made 1822 and 1823 his theological examinations. On October 22, 1823 he was ordained and introduced as a pastor in Stiepel . In August 1827 he moved to Gevelsberg as a pastor. He remained in this office until he retired on October 1, 1874.

From 1834 to 1840 Albert was part-time superintendent of the Hagen parish . Between 1844 and 1874 he was also President of the Westphalian Provincial Synod.

On April 4, 1826, he married Sophie Wilhelmine Pfannkuch (* 1801).

Honor

On March 13, 1853, he was awarded an honorary doctorate by the University of Bonn .
