Life

Dröger, who lives in Lübeck near the GDR border, climbed over the border fence in the direction of GDR on October 3, 1969 at around 11 a.m. for unknown reasons. Approx. 1 meter from the fence, he stepped on a mine that tore off his left foot. Dröger was discovered lying in the minefield by officers from the Federal Border Police, where he shouted loudly for help. Since he was not recovered by the border troops of the National People's Army , the BGS officials informed two truck drivers from the GDR, who then brought the information to the GDR side after passing a border crossing. He was finally rescued around 4 p.m. An hour later he was found dead.
