Wilhelm Engelberg

Wilhelm Engelberg (* 1862 ; † 1927 ) was a German printer owner and publisher.

Life

Wilhelm Engelberg was born in 1862 as the son of Julius Engelberg (1829–1902), who had given up his title of nobility after the Baden Revolution , and his wife Wilhelmina Eisenmann (* 1835). He received the name of his grandfather, Wilhelm von Engelberg. Engelberg was the publisher of the Haslach local newspaper Schwarzwälder Volksstimme . His collaboration with Heinrich Hansjakob is reflected in his work.

Engelberg founded the local SPD association in Haslach in the Kinzig valley in 1898 . He was a formative figure of social democracy in southwest Germany. His correspondence with Adolf Geck is inventoried in the Bonn archive of the Social Democrats .

A street in Haslach is named after Wilhelm Engelberg.

His son was the historian Ernst Engelberg (1909-2010).
