Wilhelm Fischel

Wilhelm Fischel (born September 24, 1851 in Prague ; † August 12, 1910 there ) was a Bohemian gynecologist .

Live and act

Fischel studied medicine at the University of Prague , where he was also active in Corps Austria . In 1876 he received his doctorate. As an assistant he worked with Edwin Klebs at the Pathological-Anatomical Institute and with August Breisky at the Obstetrical-Gynecological Clinic. In 1883 he received his habilitation in obstetrics and gynecology. He became the head of the gynecological outpatient department of the university polyclinic.

Wilhelm Fischel was the first to describe the Fischel ectopy named after him . This is a harmless epithelium from the cervical canal that occurs in 30–50% of female newborns .
