Wilhelm Flaschträger (* July 30, 1866 ; † July 3, 1930 in Munich ) was a brickworks owner and from 1900 to 1930 the last mayor of the municipality of Daglfing before it was incorporated into Munich , which he had sought again and again during his 30-year term in office.

Life

The father of Wilhelm Flaschträger, the brick master Johann Flaschträger († October 2, 1890 at the age of 59), came from Ginsheim in Hesse. In 1868 he moved to Englschalking . He and three friends, including Karl Schneider, had already purchased a piece of land there in 1863. In 1864 Karl Schneider became the sole owner and built a house and field bricks on the property. In 1868 Johann Flaschträger bought the entire property from him, which was now number 15 (today Englschalkinger Strasse 199), and in 1876 he built a ring-burning furnace there. Johann Flaschträger was one of the first Protestants in the community of Daglfing , to which the village of Englschalking belonged at that time.

In 1889, Wilhelm Flaschträger and his brother took over the brick factory from his father. On November 7th of the same year he married Sophie Nosrovius (* July 24th, 1868) and in the same month made an application for citizenship to the community of Daglfing.

In 1891 Wilhelm Flaschträger paid off his brother and thereby became the sole owner of his father's brick factory, which he ran until 1915. Around 1 million bricks were produced there every year, and a value of 1.5 million has been handed down for 1907.

Wilhelm Flaschträger died in July 1930. He is buried in the cemetery of the Nikolauskirche in Englschalking . In the same year a street in the center of Englschalking starting from the Nikolauskirche was renamed after him to "Flaschträgerstraße".

Act

Between 1894 and 1899 Wilhelm Flaschträger was “municipality plenipotentiary”, and in 1900 he was elected mayor of the Daglfing municipality. As mayor, he was in favor of incorporating Daglfing into Munich: in 1910 and 1911, he initiated applications for incorporation in Munich, which, however, were rejected by the City of Munich.

In 1928 he initiated another application for incorporation into Munich, on which the citizens should vote. He supported the incorporation in 1929 with a pamphlet and with several speeches to the citizens of the community in order to convince the numerous opponents of an incorporation of the opposite. In the citizens' vote on September 1st of this year, the community population voted for incorporation with 511 against 365 votes. On January 1, 1930, the municipality of Daglfing was actually incorporated into Munich.
