Wilhelm Frisch

Wilhelm Frisch (born March 29, 1891 in Wemmetsweiler ; † October 20, 1940 ) was a Saarland politician ( KPD ).

Frisch initially earned his living as a laborer and miner. In 1913 he was called up for military service. During the First World War , he was taken prisoner by the Russians from 1915 to 1918. After the war he worked again as a miner in Lorraine .

From 1927 he was a member of the KPD. He belonged to the KPD district leadership Saar and was Saarland district leader of the revolutionary trade union opposition . In 1932 he was elected to the last Landesrat of the Saar area .

A few months after the Saar referendum in 1935, Frisch, like many opponents of reintegration, emigrated to France , where he belonged to the KPD foreign leadership in Saar. In August 1940, Frisch was arrested in France. Shortly afterwards, he committed suicide after being tortured by the Gestapo .
