Wilhelm Hofmann (psychologist)

Wilhelm Hofmann (born August 12, 1976 in Traunstein ) is a German social psychologist .

Life

From 1997 to 2005 he studied psychology and sociology at the University of Trier . After receiving his doctorate in 2006 in the Department of Psychology at the University of Koblenz-Landau , he taught from 2007 to 2010 as an academic advisor at the Department of Social Psychology at the University of Würzburg . From 2010 to 2013 he taught as Assistant Professor for Behavioral Science at the Center for Decision Research at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. In 2013 he was appointed to the professorship for Social and Economic Cognition at the University of Cologne and was vice spokesman of the Center of Excellence for Social and Economic Behavior (C-SEB) from 2016 to 2018. Since 2019 he has been Professor of Social Psychology at the Faculty of Psychology at the Ruhr University Bochum .

His main research interests are in the areas of self-control and self-regulation , social cognition , moral psychology , behavioral economics, and public policy .
