Wilhelm Meydam

Wilhelm Eduard Leopold Meydam (born December 10, 1821 in Crossen an der Oder , † April 12, 1907 in Landsberg an der Warthe ) was a German lawyer and politician ; he was mayor of Landsberg an der Warthe and a member of the provincial council .

Life

His parents were the post commissioner Johann Michael Meydam and his wife Emilie Henriette Amelie, née Kramer. His brother was the future major general Theodor Meydam .

He attended the Maria-Magdalenen-Gymnasium in Breslau before studying camera and law there. During his studies in 1839 he became a member of the Raczek fraternity . In 1842 he became an auscultator , in 1848 a court assessor and in 1849 a district judge. He became mayor of Landsberg an der Warthe in 1856 and lord mayor in 1878. He was a member of the provincial parish and the provincial synod.

Honors

  • In Landsberg an der Warthe, Meydamstrasse was named after him.
  • In 1891 he became an honorary citizen of Landsberg an der Warthe.
