Wilhelm Pertl

Wilhelm Pertl († May 19, 1716 in Gotteszell ) was abbot of Gotteszell Monastery .

Life

Wilhelm Pertl was elected abbot of the Gotteszell monastery in 1689 as the successor to the late Bonifatius Hiltprand . He had the monastery buildings rebuilt and expanded, u. a. by adding a wing to the west with a gate superstructure. One of the main tasks of Abbot Wilhelm was to improve the school and higher scientific teaching and, by founding a monastery school, made an important contribution to the elementary education of the rural population.
