Wilhelm XI. (Auvergne)
Wilhelm XI. († 1280 ) was a count of Auvergne and Boulogne . He was a son of Count Robert V and Eleanor de Baffie.
He came into his inheritance in 1277, but died in 1280 without any descendants. He was followed by his brother Robert VI. to.
Wilhelm was the first Count of Auvergne to introduce a new coat of arms. He put the gonfanon of the Aurillac Abbey on a yellow sign . Allegedly this was once the banner of Count Eustachius III. von Boulogne , the brother of Godfrey of Bouillon , who led it during the conquest of Jerusalem in 1099 and gave it to the abbey on his return journey home. The new coat of arms is now considered the traditional coat of arms of the Auvergne.
