William of Chalon-Auxerre

Wilhelm von Chalon († August 18, 1304 near Mons-en-Pévèle ) was a Count of Auxerre (Wilhelm VI.) From the House of Chalon . He was a son of John I of Chalon and Alix of Burgundy , Countess of Auxerre. When his mother died in 1279, he inherited the county of Auxerre, for which his father reigned until 1283.

William fell in 1304 in the victorious battle of Mons-en-Pévèle against the Flemings .

Since 1292 he was married to Eleanor, a daughter of Count Amadeus V of Savoy . They had two children:

  • John II of Chalon († 1362), Count of Auxerre and Tonnerre
  • Johanna von Chalon († 1360), Countess von Tonnerre; ∞ with Robert of Burgundy († 1334)
