Wilhelmina Elisabeth Drucker (born September 30, 1847 in Amsterdam ; † December 5, 1925 there ) was born as Wilhelmina Elizabeth Lensing. She was the daughter of a single mother and grew up in poor conditions. She was one of the first Dutch feminists .
biography
In 1889, Drucker founded the Vrije Vrouwen Vereeniging (Free Women's Association), from which the Association for women's suffrage developed in 1894 . The Free Women's Association was the first women's organization with a socialist background.
Wilhelmina Drucker used the magazine Evolutie (Evolution, 1893-1926) to propagate her ideas.
The Dutch feminist movement Dolle Mina , which originated in 1969, was named after its nickname, Dolle Mina.
She was the half-sister of the liberal politician Hendrik Lodewijk Drucker .
In Amsterdam there is a memorial for the women's rights activist.
