Burghard Krause

Burghard Krause (born August 25, 1949 in Wolfenbüttel ) is a Lutheran theologian and was regional superintendent for the Osnabrück district of the Evangelical Lutheran regional church of Hanover .

Life

Burghard Krause studied Protestant theology in Neuendettelsau and Erlangen . After his exams, he worked as a research assistant at the chair for systematic theology at the University of Erlangen with Professor D. Wilfried Joest and received his doctorate there in 1979 on the relationship between God and suffering in Karl Barth's church dogmatics . He then completed a vicariate in Loccum . On September 20, 1981, Krause was ordained as a pastor . In Hachmühlen near Springe he took over his first pastor's position. In 1985 Krause moved to Hermannsburg , where he became head of the "Community Service" department in the Evangelical Lutheran Mission in Lower Saxony (ELM). Since 1991 he was also the deputy director of the mission work. In 1998 Krause took over the first parish of the city church in Rotenburg (Wümme) and at the same time the office of superintendent for the church district Rotenburg. In 2002 he was appointed state superintendent for the Göttingen district . After the district reform of July 1, 2007, the district of Göttingen was merged with the district of Hildesheim. Krause moved to the district of Osnabrück as state superintendent , whose previous incumbent, Doris Janssen-Reschke , retired. Burghard Krause retired on July 12, 2014.

Burghard Krause has been married to the grammar school teacher Gertrud Krause since 1972. The couple has three children.

Burghard Krause is the author of the faith course "Become a Christian - Remain Christian", which he developed in collaboration with members of the community service of the ELM Hermannsburg. It is the most widespread German faith course, which was carried out in over 1000 mainly regional church communities. The total number of participants is estimated at over 100,000. There are translations u. a. into Russian and Spanish.
