Hans Philipp Meyer

Hans Philipp Meyer (* 1919 ; † November 28, 1995 ) was an Evangelical Lutheran theologian and spiritual vice-president of the Hanover regional church office in Hanover .

Life

After studying Protestant theology and ordination, Meyer was assistant chaplain in Celle-Blumlage , pastor in Kirchboitzen , superintendent in Dorum , rector of the pastoral college in Loccum and from 1965 to 1969 regional superintendent of the Hildesheim district of the Evangelical Lutheran regional church of Hanover . On April 1, 1969, he was appointed spiritual vice-president in the regional church office. Meyer was particularly committed to theological education and decisively shaped the constitution of the regional church.

Beyond the regional church, he worked as a member of the general synod and the church leadership of the VELKD as well as a member of the church conference of the Evangelical Church in Germany . Meyer was honorary canon of the Loccum monastery . The Theological Faculty of the University of Hamburg awarded him an honorary doctorate in 1979 .
