Doris Janssen-Reschke

Doris Janssen-Reschke (born August 1, 1944 in Heilsberg , East Prussia ; † May 22, 2008 in Hamburg ) was a Lutheran theologian and long-time state superintendent for the Osnabrück district of the Evangelical Lutheran regional church of Hanover .

Live and act

Doris Janssen-Reschke spent her childhood and school days in Hildesheim , where she graduated from high school in 1963. She studied theology at the University of Göttingen , at the Church University of Berlin and at the University of Mainz . In 1968 she passed the first theological exam in Hanover . She then did a press vicariate at the church newspaper “The Message” (later: “Evangelische Zeitung” ) and attended the seminary in Hildesheim. In 1970 she passed the Second Theological Examination in Hanover.

She was one of the first women in the pastoral office of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Hanover when she first took up the pastor's post in Friedeburg in 1971 and later in Hage ( East Frisia ). In 1975 she moved to the parish parish of the Dionysius parish in Bremerhaven -Lehe. In Bremerhaven she then served as a hospital pastor from 1981 to 1989 and then took over a parish parish again in the Mariengemeinde in Bremerhaven- Geestemünde . In 1993 Janssen-Reschke received a call to Hanover to the parish of the Markuskirche, which was connected with the superintendent for the church district Hanover-Northeast. She assumed this office as the second superintendent in the history of the Hanover regional church.

In 1998 she was finally appointed state superintendent for the district of Osnabrück; she made history as the first regional bishop of the Hanover regional church. She held this office in the predominantly Catholic episcopal city of Osnabrück until she retired in 2007. In her 36-year service, Doris Janssen-Reschke completed numerous additional training courses that mark her special commitment in the church sector: telephone pastoral care, topic-centered interaction (TZI), clinical pastoral care and pastoral psychology (depth psychological pastoral care).

Other functions

From 1982 to 1998 she was a member of the regional synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Hanover. From 1998 to 2004 she was chairwoman of the Evangelical Village Helpers Lower Saxony eV
