The Evangelische Dorfhelferinnenwerk Niedersachsen eV (DHW) is a diaconal organization that was founded in 1960 and is run by the Ev.-luth. Regional Church of Hanover , the Ev.-luth. Church in Oldenburg , the Ev.-luth. Regional Church of Schaumburg-Lippe and the Evangelical Reformed Church . The office is located in the Hanns-Lilje-Haus in Hanover . The village helpers work is assigned to the House of Church Services of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Hanover.

history

The Dorfhelferinnenwerk was created in connection with the mothers' convalescence work and family help . In 1958, a department for evangelical youth in the countryside was set up in the state youth parish office. The village helpers in the Hanoverian regional church developed from the Protestant youth in the country - regional youth parish office. With the help and support of the Lower Saxony Ministry of Agriculture and the Chambers of Agriculture, the work of the village helpers was imported from the Wuerttemberg real division area into the Lower Saxony land area . The cooperation took place in order to ensure the goal of the state recognition of the training profession village helper. The courses for Protestant village helpers initially took place in the Ev. Hospital Neuenkirchen near Bremen, from 1965 in the village helpers' seminar in Fischerhude , which was opened in the same year. The number of village helpers rose from 14 in 1961 to 175 in 1993. Since it was founded, the village helpers' organization was part of the Office for Community Service (AfG) / House of Church Services (HkD). From 1972 it was a work in the adult work area. From 1977 to 1985 it was integrated into the AfG as a special area. After that, it was an institution that was equivalent to the specialist areas, then part of the work area Media Center - Church Leisure Centers - Village Helpers - Equal Opportunities (today: Art and Culture in the House of Church Services ) and from 2002 a specialist department in the Church in Dialogue in the AfG / HkD. Since 2009 the DHW has been an institution assigned to the House of Church Services.

tasks

The work has the task of providing help to the family by representing the housewife in emergency situations. This is done through the use of village helpers , whose training (in the Ev.-Lutheran Marahrens Heimvolkshochschule Loccum), placement (through the local board of trustees), employment and support is provided by the association.

The village helpers do house and family care mainly in families in rural areas. They usually represent the housewife and mother when they are unable to run the household for a limited time for health reasons - usually for one to six weeks. In the family outreach, the village helpers perform educational, nursing and housekeeping tasks. Funding is usually provided by the agricultural social security agencies. The on-site operations are guaranteed by 37 village helper stations (as of 2010) (voluntary boards of trustees). In the board of trustees, more than 500 volunteers support families in emergency situations. A total of 145 village helpers (as of 2014) are employed by the village helpers.
