Werner Schröder (born September 15, 1924 in Nordleda ; † October 13, 2019 in Aurich ) was a Protestant theologian.

Life

Schröder's parents were the master carpenter Wilhelm Schröder and his wife Martha geb. Rieper. At the age of 18, Schröder joined the Army (Wehrmacht) in 1942 . As a junior non-commissioned officer , he was seriously wounded in France in July 1944. He received the Iron Cross II. Class and the Wound Badge . In the post-war period in Germany , he studied Protestant theology at the Friedrich Alexander University in Erlangen . There he became active in Corps Misnia IV and Corps Lusatia Leipzig in 1949 . In 1950 he moved to the Eberhard Karls University . In Lusatia's Cartel Corps Rhenania Tübingen he was initially an MC . He was reciprocated on February 24, 1951 . On November 5, 1951 inactivated , he finished his studies at the Georg-August University of Goettingen . In 1953 he passed the first theological state examination there. He was vicar at the German Seemannsmission and accompanied sea trips as a ship pastor while he was still retired. After he had passed the second state examination in Hanover in 1956, he was pastor in Lilienthal near Bremen until 1965 . He then worked for eleven years as superintendent of the church district Wesermünde-Süd in Loxstedt . In 1976 he was appointed state superintendent . From 1976 to 1988 he was regional superintendent of the Ostfriesland-Ems district of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Hanover . Since then he has lived in Aurich with his wife .

In addition to his theological and diaconal work, Schröder was involved, among other things, in the chairmanship of the East Frisian Bible Society , the Evangelical Village Helpers in Lower Saxony and as chairman of the Wichernstift social welfare organization in Ganderkesee . The German Bible Society awarded him the Canstein Medal in 1989.
