Wilhelm Büning (theologian)

Wilhelm Büning (born May 25, 1885 in Zeven , † January 6, 1964 in Aurich ) was a German Lutheran theologian, most recently state superintendent of the Ostfriesland-Ems district of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Hanover .

Life

Büning attended grammar school in Leer and graduated from high school there at Easter 1903. He studied Protestant theology at the universities of Tübingen , Leipzig and Göttingen and passed the first theological exam in 1907 and the second in autumn 1909. In 1904 he became a member of the Leipziger Wingolf and in 1905 the Göttingen Wingolf . On December 28, 1909, he was ordained in Stade and initially used as an assistant pastor in Oldendorf (Stade district). In 1912 he became pastor in Twistringen , in 1927 superintendent in Esens , in 1940 superintendent in Osnabrück , in 1948 state superintendent of the district of East Friesland. He retired on November 1, 1953.

From 1945 to 1948 Büning was a member of the Provisional Church Senate.
