Rainer Assmann (born July 3, 1935 in Berlin-Dahlem ) is a German judge, student historian and regional historian of South Westphalia .

Life

Assmann comes from one of the oldest families in Lüdenscheid. His parents are the businessman Eberhard Assmann and his wife Lore geb. Westhooven. In 1943 the family was evacuated from Berlin to Oeckinghausen . The great-grandparents built the Winkhaus house there.

Assmann attended the Zeppelin high school (Lüdenscheid) . After graduating from high school in 1956, he began to study law and business administration at the Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen . On May 3, 1956, he was active in the Corps Rhenania Tübingen . On December 5, 1956 recipiert , he proved to be a senior . After six lengths it was deactivated on February 24, 1958 . He moved to the Georg-August University in Göttingen . After passing the legal clerkship at the Higher Regional Court in Celle in 1961 , he completed his legal clerkship at the University of Administrative Sciences in Speyer, among others . After he had passed the assessor examination in Düsseldorf in 1965 , he went to a trade association in Münster in 1966 . In 1967 he switched to the administration of justice in the Bundeswehr . He became a legal advisor / defense disciplinary attorney at the Wehrbereichskommando III in Düsseldorf, at the I. Corps in Münster (1971) and under the appointment of government director RB / WDA of the 2nd Panzer Grenadier Division in Kassel (1977). In 1989 he was appointed judge and in 1990 presiding judge at the troop service court in Kassel. In 1994/95 he was elected as 2nd representative, from 1996 to 1999 as 2nd member of the Presidential Council at the Federal Administrative Court. When he reached the age limit, he retired in 2000. Assmann has been married since 1964 to the pharmacist Dagmar Maiweg, a daughter of his corps brother Niels Maiweg (1902–1974). The couple has three children and lives in Schwansen .

Publications

Supported by his teacher Wilhelm Sauerländer, Assmann wrote articles on the history of the Lüdenscheid area while still at school. Since his studies he has been involved in research, lectures and publications on military law , university history and constitutional history . For 42 years - from 1965 to 2007 - he was an archivist in his corps. He published over 100 studies and over 500 book reviews on German student history . In 1978 he founded the series Archiv Corps Rhenania zu Tübingen , which has been continued by Richard Backhaus since 2008 . In 1984 he became editor, in 1990 also editor of the articles on German student history , at that time the official organ of German student historians. Since 1996 the articles with the subtitle Articles - Exquisite on German Student History have been continued.
