The Willapa Bay is a bay in Pacific County of the US state of Washington . It is about 38 km long and about 17 km wide and is separated from the Pacific by the Long Beach Peninsula . In the bay are the islands of Long Island and Grassy Island. The Willapa River and Naselle River flow into the bay. The bay is bordered by Leadbetter Point State Park and the Shoalwater Indian Reservation , and there are also some smaller towns and community-free settlements. The region lives from fishing and oyster farming . About 9% of the annual oyster production in the United States comes from Willapa Bay. The Willapa oysters are among the best oysters produced in the USA.

Willapa Bay is known for its biodiversity , so much of the bay has been placed under conservation as the Willapa National Wildlife Refuge . The reserve is managed by the US Fish & Wildlife Service .
