Willard H. Turner

Willard Howard Turner (born October 18, 1903 in Colorado , † May 27, 1979 in San Bernardino (California) ) was an American filmmaker and engineer who worked for the film company RKO Pictures Radio Studio Sound Department.

Turner was recognized by the Academy for Science and Technology der Technik Award (Scientific and Engineering Award) for the design and construction of the phone-cue starter at the Academy Awards in 1944 . Turner was honored in Class III, which means he received a certificate with a commendation instead of a statuette. There is also class II, with the winner receiving a badge.

On September 30, 1952, Turner was granted the patent for the invention of a variable resistor signal equalization unit, which he had previously given to RKO Radio Pictures as part of an assignment.

Turner was married with three daughters and one son.
