The Willem-Alexander Baan is an artificial lake near the Dutch municipality of Zevenhuizen , which has been used as a regatta course for rowing since 2012 .

history

The plans for the Willem-Alexander Baan go back to 2002. Construction of the facility began in 2011. Although the regatta course was only opened on April 26, 2013 by its namesake Willem-Alexander , the first competition took place in 2012.

The first major event on the Willem-Alexander Baan was the rowing competitions of the European Universities Games 2014 . In 2016, both the Rowing World Championships and the U23 World Championships in rowing and the Junior World Championships in rowing were held on the regatta course.

The Willem-Alexander Baan is located parallel to the Rotte in the northeast of Rotterdam .

The route available for regattas is 2000 m long. There is also a parallel channel for training drives and competition judges.

Eight lanes can be divided into competitions with an Albano system .
