Niklas Ney

Niklas Kevin Joshua Ney (born October 3, 1995 in Berlin ) is a German basketball player . The 2.08 meter long inside player (center) has been part of the squad of the second division Tigers Tübingen since summer 2019 .

Career

Ney played in the youth department of Basketball Berlin Süd and then that of Alba Berlin and was used for the first time for the second men's team Albas during the 2011/12 season, at that time in the 2nd Bundesliga ProB and after relegation in the regional league. In spring 2014 he won the championship title in the youth basketball league with the U19 team Albas .

For the 2014/15 season he moved to Mercer University , a university in the US state of Georgia . In two years he completed 35 games for Mercer and scored a total of 39 points (1.1 per game). Ney decided to return to his home country and embarked on a professional career. In June 2016 he was signed by the second division USC Heidelberg . After three years in Heidelberg, Ney moved to the Tigers Tübingen within the league during the 2019 summer break .

At the end of August 2019, Ney suffered a concussion, and Philipp Neumann was signed as a replacement .

National team

Ney was part of the German U16 national team at the 2011 European Championship and played nine games during the tournament.

Personal

His older brother Joey Ney was once a member of Alba Berlin's Bundesliga squad and was also a junior national player.
