Joey Ney (born December 10, 1992 in Berlin ) is a German basketball player . Ney began his career in his hometown of Berlin with the German first division club Alba, where he had short appearances in the top German league as well as individual appearances in the most important European club competitions ULEB Euroleague and ULEB Eurocup . Until 2017, the former German youth selection player played at RSV Eintracht 1949 Teltow-Kleinmachnow-Stahnsdorf in the 2nd Bundesliga ProB .

Career

Ney played from 2009 for the junior team of the German first division club Alba Berlin in the youth basketball league (NBBL). The junior team could not defend their title success from the previous year against Team Ursprung in the final in 2010, which took back the NBBL title. With the German U18 youth selection , Ney finished 13th and fourth from last place at the U18 European Championship in summer 2010. A year later, the Alba Juniors missed their entry into the NBBL Top Four , while Joey's brother Niklas, who was almost three years younger than him, won the NBBL Championship with Albas Juniors in 2014. In contrast to Joey, Niklas then initially continued his career in the United States , where he played during his studies for the college team Bears of Mercer University in the Southern Conference of the NCAA .

As of 2010, Ney had already played with the men in Alba's reserve team in the third-highest division ProB . After the relegation in the play-downs in the ProB 2010/11 , the reserve against the reserve of the Skyliners Frankfurt missed the relegation in the ProB 2011/12 . By means of a double license , Ney had the first ten missions with an average playing time of a good two minutes per game in the top German division basketball Bundesliga 2011/12 for Alba's first team, which, however, was third in the main round in the first play-off round, in Ney was not used, retired.
