Willi Diez

Willi Diez (born April 20, 1953 in Nürtingen ) is a German economist and professor of business administration , especially the automotive industry, as well as managing director of IFA Forum & Management GmbH in Geislingen / Stg.

Diez studied economics at the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg and at the Eberhard Karls Universität Tübingen , where he received his PhD in 1986. rer. pole. PhD . From 1979 to 1991 Diez worked in various functions at Daimler AG , most recently as an executive officer. From 1991 to 1997 he was personal advisor to the then CEO of Mercedes-Benz AG, Helmut Werner .

When he was appointed professor in 1991, Diez began building the automotive industry course at the Nürtingen-Geislingen University of Economics and Environment (HfWU). With over 400 students in the automotive bachelor 's and master' s programs and more than 20 professors and lecturers from the automotive industry , the HfWU has the largest automotive competence center at a German university.

Diez was a member of the Automotive Industry Strategy Dialog, which was launched by Baden-Württemberg's Prime Minister Winfried Kretschmann in May 2017. From 2017 to 2018 he was also a member of the Advisory Board of the Transformation Council of the Automotive Industry at the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Economics.

From 1995 to April 2018 Diez was director of the Institute for the Automotive Industry (IFA), which he founded. Diez was also head of the Porsche Automotive Campus (PAC), which started work on January 1, 2013. As part of the PAC, particularly talented students in the automotive industry courses of the HfWU are promoted and selected projects are worked on in close cooperation with Porsche AG .

He also headed the VW Future Retail Lab from 2014 to 2018. As part of this cooperation, new ideas and concepts for future automobile sales are to be developed.

The “Automobile Industry Day” initiated by Diez at the HfWU is today one of the largest automobile industry congresses in Germany - with high-ranking speakers from the automobile industry. Diez is a member of the supervisory and advisory boards of various companies in the automotive industry. He is a member of the Energy & Climate Protection Foundation in Stuttgart.

In April 2018 he resigned from the Institute for Automotive Industry (IFA) for reasons of age. He is still the managing director of IFA Forum & Management GmbH and works as a journalist.
