Felton Jarvis (born November 16, 1934 in Atlanta , Georgia , † January 3, 1981 in Nashville , Tennessee ; actually Charles Felton Jarvis ) was an American music producer and singer.

Career

Jarvis was responsible for most of Elvis Presley's recordings as a producer from 1966 to 1977. He also released his own singles in the late 1950s and early 1960s. However, since he was more successful as a music producer, he produced the first six albums of John Hardford . As well as the artists Tommy Roe , Michael Nesmith , Fats Domino , Jimmy Dean , Fess Parker , Charlie Pride , Carl Perkins , Skeeter Davis , Willie Nelson , Gladys Knight & the Pips , Maria Dallas and Jerry Reed . He was married and had a son.

Last project: Guitar Man

In mid-December 1980, Felton completed a new Elvis Presley project called Guitar Man . On this there were ten completely revised songs, in which only the voice of Presley remained "original", the backing tracks were re-recorded. On December 16, 1981, Felton Jarvis and Jerry Flowers, an employee of RCA Nashville, discussed the questions for a radio interview to be held a week later to mark the release of the album. However, this interview was never conducted because Jarvis suffered a stroke on December 19, 1980 and was hospitalized in Nashville. He died there on January 3, 1981 at the age of 46. The preliminary talk, however, had been recorded and included not only the Guitar Man project , but also discussed Felton Jarvis' career.
