Willi Lührs

Willi Lührs (born May 4, 1913 in Norderney ; † October 21, 1974 in Hanover ) was a German politician ( SPD ). He was mayor of Norderney and a member of the Lower Saxony state parliament .

After attending elementary school, Lührs completed an apprenticeship as a cabinet maker and cabinet maker. From 1950 he worked full-time as an employee of a welfare organization in youth and child welfare. With the exception of the time of National Socialism, he had been active in the socialist youth movement since his youth.

After the Second World War , he became a member of the North District Council and the City Council of Norderney, whose mayor was Lührs from 1956 until his death in 1974. During this time Lührs was also elected to the Lower Saxony state parliament, to which he belonged for three electoral terms from May 6, 1959 to June 20, 1970.
