Willi Ossenkopf

Willi Ossenkopf (born February 23, 1899 in Schlewecke , † July 12, 1966 in Wolfsburg ) was a German politician ( SPD ).

After attending elementary school, Ossenkopf completed a commercial apprenticeship. From 1917 to 1918 he took part in the First World War and returned seriously wounded. Because of his injury, he was no longer fit for the job as a salesman and was therefore retrained as a shoemaker. In addition, he began to be politically active.

In 1919 he joined the SPD and in 1925 he was elected to the local council. He later became mayor in Schlewecke until he resigned from his office in 1933. Then he worked as a self-employed shoemaker. During the Nazi era, he suffered from house searches and boycotts. After the end of 1945, he was reinstated as mayor. From 1945 he was a member of the district council and the following year he was unanimously elected district administrator of the Wolfenbüttel district. From February 21, 1946 to November 21, 1946 he was a member of the Appointed Braunschweig Landtag. In the first electoral term of the Lower Saxony state parliament, he was a member.
