Willi Portz (born November 19, 1951 in Hüttersdorf ) is a German politician ( SPD ).

Portz initially worked as a technical employee. From 1985 to 2002 he headed the newly founded Free Art School Saarlouis in Picard . Since 2002 he has been managing director of the Adolf Bender Center in St. Wendel .

He joined the SPD in 1969. Willy Brandt was a role model for the young Willi Portz. Portz was initially involved in the local SPD local association Nalbach / Körprich, was involved in the local youth center association and set up the SPD youth organization Young Socialists in the Körprich / Nalbach area. In 1975 he met his future wife Gabriele, from a social democratic / socialist family from Lebach. Joint commitment as Jusos - both were important for democratic socialism. Married in September 1977. In the same year Portz became Juso sub-district chairman of the Saarlouis district, gained influence on the Juso district level Saar as well as the best contact with Ottmar Schreiner, the SPD member of the Bundestag in the Saarlouis district. The fight of the Saarlanders against the Cattenom nuclear power plant (1979 to today) was largely coordinated by Portz. In the 1980s, Willi Portz and Gabriele Scherer-Portz were concerned about resistance to the "NATO double decision", ie the stationing of cruise missiles in Germany. Both have organized countless actions to prevent the stationing and called on the population to protest. Then came the state election in 1985, in which Willi Portz, together with his wife Gabriele Scherer-Portz and many other social democrats in Saarland, fought incredibly for a social democratic majority "on the Saar"! It has been possible. From 1985 to 1999, Portz was a member of the Saarland state parliament and was the cultural-political spokesman for his parliamentary group there. Portz, who chaired the SPD parliamentary group in Lebach's city ​​council for many years , ran for the election of Lebach mayor in 1998, but lost just under 48.8% of the vote against incumbent Nikolaus Jung (CDU) in the second ballot.
