Picard is a district of the district town of Saarlouis in Saarland and has around 1,900 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2006). With an area of 222 hectares, Picard is the second smallest district of Saarlouis, which corresponds to around 5.12% of the total area of Saarlouis.
history
Various regiments were assigned to build the new French border fortress Saarlouis in 1680, including the Picard and Dauphin regiments . The villages Picard and Bourg-Dauphin, which were assigned to the canton of Rehlingen in the Moselle department until 1815, became their settlements . Picard became a Saarlouis district in 1936, and Bourg-Dauphin was also incorporated into Saarlouis in 1970 under the name Neuforweiler .
