Picard is a district of the district town of Saarlouis in Saarland and has around 1,900 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2006). With an area of ​​222 hectares, Picard is the second smallest district of Saarlouis, which corresponds to around 5.12% of the total area of ​​Saarlouis.

history

Various regiments were assigned to build the new French border fortress Saarlouis in 1680, including the Picard and Dauphin regiments . The villages Picard and Bourg-Dauphin, which were assigned to the canton of Rehlingen in the Moselle department until 1815, became their settlements . Picard became a Saarlouis district in 1936, and Bourg-Dauphin was also incorporated into Saarlouis in 1970 under the name Neuforweiler .
