Location of Neuforweiler in Saarland |
Neuforweiler is a district of Saarlouis ( Saarland ) with around 1600 inhabitants. Neuforweiler borders directly on Picard and Altforweiler .
history
Various regiments were assigned to build the new French border fortress Saarlouis in 1680, including the regiments de Picard and du Dauphin . Their settlements were the villages of Picard and Bourg-Dauphin .
Bourg-Dauphin was later renamed Neuforweiler , after the neighboring, older Forweiler , whose name was then changed to Altforweiler for better differentiation . In the local vernacular, the French name remained for a long time as Bedofingen .
The peace treaty concluded at Rijswijk on October 30, 1697 is an important date in the history of Neuforweiler. As a result of this peace, the French Moselle fortress Mont-Royal near Traben-Trarbach had to be abandoned and razed by France. Parts of the population of Mont-Royal moved to Saarlouis and in a letter of appeal to the French king expressed their wish to be allowed to settle east of the town of Altforweiler. The new settlement was to be called Bourg Dauphin. The legal addressee of the petition was not the French king, but after the peace treaty of Rijswijk the Duke of Lorraine. He allowed the resettlers from Mont-Royal to settle in what is now Neuforweiler.
According to the announcement of July 10, 1947 and the municipal council resolutions of the Neuforweiler municipal council of April 5 and December 13, 1946, the previous municipality name Neuforweiler was changed to the historically well-founded name "Bourg Dauphin" . By resolution of January 12, 1953, after hearing the municipal council of Bourg Dauphin, the previous municipality name Bourg Dauphin was changed back to "Neuforweiler" .
Until 1815, Neuforweiler was assigned to the canton of Saarlouis , in the Moselle department .
The Neuforweiler volunteer fire brigade was founded in 1901 under Mayor Ritter and Mayor Rupp. The first fire chief was the teacher Kirchhof. 16 soldiers were available to him. Nikolaus Wiltz led the fire brigade from 1910 to 1918. He was followed by Peter Schuler until 1925. Ferdinand Eisenbarth was from 1925 to 1928 and Johann Karl Müller from 1928 to 1935. Thereafter, fire chief Norbert Thiel was military leader until 1953. He was replaced by fire chief Ernst Bläs, who led the defense until 1968. From 1968 until the three extinguishing districts were amalgamated , Saarlouis-West was the extinguishing district, and Chief Fire Officer Helmut Jourdain, initially as military leader of the Bisten office, led the fire brigade in Neuforweiler after Neuforweiler was incorporated into the district town of Saarlouis as extinguishing district leader.
Neuforweiler became a Saarlouis district on July 1, 1970 in anticipation of the 1974 territorial reform .
language
The traditional colloquial language is 'Saarlouiser Platt', a Moselle-Franconian dialect .
