Willi Sauer

Willi Sauer (born December 17, 1938 in Großgerharts ) is a former Austrian politician ( ÖVP ) and farmer. Sauer was a member of the Austrian National Council from 1994 to 1999 and President of the Red Cross Lower Austria from 2006 to 2016.

Life

Sauer attended elementary and secondary school from 1944 to 1952 and worked as a farmer from 1952. In 1994 he was given the professional title of Economics Council.

Sauer was initially politically active in the market town of Thaya . He was a member of the local council from 1968 to 1969 and from 1975 to 1990 and was vice mayor between 1975 and 1985. He represented the ÖVP in the Lower Austrian Landtag between 1988 and 1993 and was a member of the National Council between November 7, 1994 and October 28, 1999.

Sauer was also chairman of the Waidhofen an der Thaya district chamber of farmers from 1990 and of the chamber of regional farmers from the chamber council. In 1981 he was elected chairman of the Association of Waldviertel Simmental cattle breeders and from 1994 he was chairman of the Central Working Group of Austrian Cattle Breeders. On June 10, 2006, Sauer was elected President of the Lower Austrian Red Cross. He had previously been Vice President. In 2016 he no longer stood for election. His successor was the previous Vice President Josef Schmoll .
