Josef Schmoll (* 1968 ) is a judicial officer, federal inspector of the prisons and honorary president of the Austrian Red Cross - Lower Austria regional association .

Josef Schmoll is a civil law clerk where he was deputy head of the Vienna-Favoriten prison and then head of Vienna-Simmering . From 2015 to the beginning of 2017 he was department head in the Ministry of Justice responsible for security, construction and supervision in the penal system. As of May 10, he is the federal inspector of the prisons .

He holds the rank of General at the Justice Guard .

Schmoll has been volunteering for the Red Cross since 1988, where he started as a paramedic . From 2002 to 2006 he was area commander, then until 2016 district head of the Neunkirchen district office of the Red Cross. From 2007 to 2011 he was also Deputy State Rescue Commander. He was then vice-president of the regional association for 5 years.

Since October 2016 Schmoll has succeeded Willi Sauer as President of the Austrian Red Cross, Regional Association of Lower Austria. At the same time we want to further strengthen and expand the Red Cross as the most attractive volunteer organization in the country. "
