Willi Wendt

Willi Wendt , actually Wilhelm Wendt (* May 9, 1854 ; † after 1930), was a German garden designer and horticultural director in Berlin .

life and work

After an apprenticeship as a gardener in the Liebig nursery in Dresden , Willi Wendt first worked as an assistant in his father's company, "Rosen Wendt", in Hasenheide in Berlin .

Later he went freelance as a landscape gardener in Berlin . Around 1901 he specialized in the creation and maintenance of hotel gardens. During this time he created the horticultural facilities for the luxury hotels " Esplanade ", " Bristol " and " Savoy ".

From 1913 to at least 1930 he was Berlin Horticultural Director.

Willi Wendt was also a member of the German Society for Garden Art (DGfG) and the Association of German Garden Artists (VdG) and its treasurer for ten years . In addition, he was a member of the Berlin Masonic lodge to the golden ship .
