William Addison Duncan

William Addison Duncan (born February 2, 1836 in Cashtown , Adams County , Pennsylvania , †  November 14, 1884 in Gettysburg , Pennsylvania) was an American politician . In 1883 and 1884 he represented the state of Pennsylvania in the US House of Representatives .

Career

William Duncan attended the public schools of his home country and then until 1857 Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster . After studying law and being admitted to the bar in 1859, he began to work in this profession in Gettysburg. In the years 1862 and 1868 he was elected district attorney there. Politically, he became a member of the Democratic Party .

In the 1882 congressional election , Duncan was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , in the 19th  constituency of Pennsylvania , where he succeeded Frank Eckels Beltzhoover on March 4, 1883 . He was able to exercise this mandate in Congress until his death on November 14, 1884. At this point in time, he had already been elected for the next legislative period.
