William Boericke
William Boericke (born November 26, 1849 in Asch , † April 1, 1929 in San Francisco ) was an important American homeopath.
Life
William Boericke studied medicine in Vienna for about a year before emigrating to the USA and settling in Ohio . He continued his medical studies at Hahnemann Medical College in Philadelphia and passed the exam there in 1880. He then went to San Francisco and worked there as a homeopathic doctor for almost 50 years. With his wife, Kate Fey, a woman from New England , Boericke had five sons and two daughters (twins). He died of a heart attack .
Services
Boericke co-founded the Pacific Homoeopathic Medical College of San Francisco and Hahnemann Hospital , becoming the first professor of homeopathic materia medica and therapy at the University of California. He held this professorship for 30 years. Later Boericke translated the 6th edition of Samuel Hahnemann's Organon der Heilkunst into English. His pocket manual was edited by his brother, Oskar Boericke .
