William C. Faure

William C. Faure (born July 17, 1949 , † October 18, 1994 in Johannesburg , South Africa ) was a South African film director and screenwriter .

Life

William C. Faure became known worldwide for his 1986 television miniseries Shaka Zulu . It reports on the rise and fall of the Zulu king, who in the early 19th century almost succeeded in preventing the British colonists from taking over his tribal territory. Faure began directing after attending film school in England and working for the South African Broadcasting Corporation in the early 1970s . During this time Faure was involved in the production of The Dinleys , one of the first soap operas in South Africa. In the 90s Faure also directed several Miss South Africa and Miss World competitions.

He died of kidney failure in Johannesburg on October 18, 1994.
