William Clark falconer
William Clark Falkner (* 1826 , † 1889 ) was a Confederate States Army officer and writer.
Falconer was highly decorated in the American Civil War . He also wrote various short stories , including a. the bestseller The White Rose of Memphis . In 1889 he ran for the Mississippi state parliament and was shot by his opponent. A memorial to Colonel Falkner now stands in Ripley, Mississippi . He is best known for the influence he had on the work of his great-grandson, the writer William Faulkner .
