William L. O'Brien

William L. "Bill" O'Brien (born July 20, 1951 ) is an American lawyer and politician .

Personal and professional

He completed his law degree at Suffolk University in 1977 as a Juris Doctor and a further legal education degree from the Franklin Pierce Law Center in 2003 as a Master of Laws .

O'Brien is a lawyer and lives in Mont Vernon , New Hampshire . O'Brien is a member of the New Hampshire Bar Association and executive director of the New Hampshire Legal Rights Foundation. He was a law professor at the New England School of Law .

Bill O'Brien was first elected to the New Hampshire House of Representatives for the Republican Party in 2004 and was a member of parliament until 2006. He was able to move back into parliament in 2008 and has been a full member ever since. O'Brien represented the Hillsborough constituency 4 and has represented Hillsborough 5 since the constituencies were redistributed.

In December 2010, O'Brien was elected to succeed Terie Norelli as Speaker (Chair) of the House of Representatives. After the 2012 election, he did not apply again for this post, which fell back to Terie Norelli.
