William Margolis

William Mayer Margolis (born October 31, 1944 in New York City , † April 12, 2004 in Bordeaux ) was an American writer.

Life

Margolis grew up in New York. After studying philosophy and an initial career in public education in his hometown, he traveled to the countries of the Middle East and settled in Bordeaux in the 1980s. Here he believed he had found a new home. “ When I saw the city of Bordeaux for the first time, I had the impression that it was like a huge health resort, a gift from God. The sky opened and the clouds moved away ... ”(from: Au large des îles Fauts ).

He lived in Bordeaux as an English teacher and linguistic advisor. Margolis published a highly acclaimed novel in French in 2000 . Serious illness prevented her from continuing. Shortly before his death, a collection of short stories appeared .
