William Batista , full name William Rocha Batista (born July 27, 1980 in São Paulo ) is a Brazilian soccer player .

Career

William Batista began his career in 1998 with the Brazilian soccer club AA Portuguesa in the Brazilian third division . After two seasons he moved within the Série C to the club União Agrícola Barbarense FC . After a season he moved to Levski Sofia in Bulgaria . Here he came only to one league game and his contract was not extended. In 2003 he was finally offered a contract with the Czech club SFC Opava . In the winter of the same year he moved to the Ukrainian club Karpaty Lviv . His most successful season so far was the 2006/07 season, in which he completed 24 league games for Lviv in the Premjer-Liha and scored ten goals. In the summer of 2007 there was speculation that Dynamo Kiev would be interested in him, but he said he wanted to fulfill his contract with Lviv. In January 2008 he moved to FK Kharkiv for 1.4 million euros . The Karpaty Lviv coach announced that he would like to restructure his team for the 2009-10 season and gave Batista an offer to return to the club. He accepted the contract, but was loaned to FK Baku by Karpaty Lviv for the 2009 season. In 2012 his contract with Karpaty Lviv was dissolved and he has been under contract with Obolon Kiev since then .
