William Stamer

Sir William Stamer, 1st Baronet (* 1765 - January 14, 1838 near Kingston , County Dublin ) was Councilor of Dublin and two-time Lord Mayor of Dublin .

William Stamer was born to Thomas Stamer and Catharine Lovelace. In 1795 he became Sheriff of Dublin . After he was elected councilor in Dublin on July 7, 1800, he held the post of Lord Mayor of Dublin from 1809 to 1810 and again from 1819 to 1820. In addition, Stamer was the city's police magistrate for many years. On December 15, 1809 he was given the hereditary title of baronet , of Beauchamp in the County of Dublin.

Stamer was married to Martha Rawlings since September 24, 1791. The marriage resulted in two sons and four daughters. Stamer died on January 14, 1838, aged 74, at his home near Kingston, County Dublin. His son Lovelace Stamer (1797-1860) inherited his title as 2nd baronet.
