The Brooks House

The William and Blanche Brooks House in Forney, Texas is the former home of the small town businessman and local politician William A. Brooks , who lived with his wife Blanche and his family. It was built in Queen Anne style in 1898 by the Dallas architect Charles Alexander Gill .

Brooks had received the property on S Center Street as a wedding present from his fellow party member Yancy McKellar. Two decades after its construction, the house was extensively redesigned in 1915 and elements of the Colonial Revival style were added in line with contemporary tastes. Among other things, it received a round tower extension, detailed chimneys and a veranda running around the house.

A typical example of the apartment buildings built in this part of Forney at the turn of the 20th century, the house is considered a significant part of the city's architectural heritage. In 1993 it was added to the National Register of Historic Places . Coordinates: 32 ° 44 ′ 35.4 "  N , 96 ° 28 ′ 24.7"  W.
