Willibald glass

Willibald Glas (* 1927 ) is a Catholic theologian and church critic . He was named because of his book “The Pastor of Arget. Ups and downs in his life ”was suspended from duty by Cardinal Friedrich Wetter and punished with the church penalty of“ excommunication which occurs by itself ”.

Career and work

Willibald Glas studied philosophy and theology in Munich and Freising. From 1954 to 1968 he worked as a missionary in Africa . Then followed seven years as a cathedral deficit in Munich. Since 1974 he was pastor of St. Michael zu Arget , a district of the municipality of Sauerlach , in the district of Munich . After the publication of his book “The Pastor of Arget. Ups and downs in his life ”he was forced into retirement on May 1, 1992 by Cardinal Friedrich Wetter. However, Willibald Glas disregarded the cardinal's instructions and continued to perform his duties as pastor with the support of the church administration and the parish council. Shortly before Christmas 1992, the rectory was evicted.
