Willy Hoffmeister

Willy Hoffmeister (born December 10, 1900 in Cronenberg ; † November 8, 1971 in Lüdenscheid ) was a German local politician ( CDU ) and entrepreneur.

Life and work

When his father was called up for military service, Hoffmeister joined the management of his father's electrical company at the age of 14, which at the time was primarily concerned with the installation of switchgear. Towards the end of the war he was drafted into the military himself. After the First World War, the company that he now runs with his father turns to the development of engines. Bakelite lamps are made from 1929 . The company still exists today under the name "Hoffmeister Leuchten". He was Vice President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Hagen.

On December 3, 1965, Hoffmeister was awarded the Great Federal Cross of Merit.

politics

Hoffmeister became involved in the CDU after the Second World War . From 1948 to 1949 he was Lord Mayor of Lüdenscheid .
