Willy Peters

Willy Peters (born September 5, 1859 in Schwerin , † 1905 ) was a German theater actor and chief director .

Life

Peters, son of character comedian Josef Peters (* 1805 in Potsdam), first completed a three-year apprenticeship with a book and art dealer after leaving school. In Berlin he took lessons from Adolf Bethge .

First as a volunteer at the Schwerin City Theater, he made his debut on December 9, 1878 as "Second Murderer" in "Richard III."

Then he went to Hildesheim, Lüneburg, Celle, Posen and Stettin. In 1882/83 he served as a one-year volunteer . Liegnitz followed, and in 1884 he went to Königsberg , where he stayed until 1891.

He then accepted an engagement at the Thomastheater in Berlin. With this he went on tour through 33 cities in the USA from November 1892 to May 1893 .

On his return he moved to the Hamburg Thaliatheater, where he stayed until 1898, before moving again to the New Theater in Berlin. There he worked exclusively as a senior director . From 1901 he worked in the same capacity at the Lessing Theater, but also played there on the stage.
